Space Clocks
A series of clocks that keep solar, sidereal, lunar, and Martian time.
What time is it in space?
These clocks are made possible by Nick Sayer’s Crazy Clock controller, which replaces the clock’s stock controller and can be programmed to tick at various speeds and patterns:
- Earth Day: 86400 ticks/day (normal)
- Sidereal: 86636 ticks/day
- Mars Sol: 88775 ticks/day
- Lunar: 121.9 ticks/day
- Earth year: 9.83 ticks/day
- Mars year: 5.24 ticks/day
Astronomical details are hopefully right, but pending review by science educators at my workplace (at the time). The Earth day clock is probably the most useful, but I like the Mars Sol one best. It’s hard not to feel inspired seeing those aspirational lander names and knowing they’re all there on Mars, right now.
